adult stuff

I MIGHT FINALLY HAVE A JOB! last summer i didn't have an internship or job and i refused to go back to food service hell, meaning the summer was full of guilt-tripping from my mom. i basically became her maid as part of a bargain to get her off my back. she also made me promise that i would get some kind of summer work this year and honestly, i know she's just looking out for me. it's looking like i'm going to graduate sooner rather than later and i NEED to be making connections and networking, or at least padding my resume. if i ever want to get any kind of literature related job, my previous experience of working at a sit down fast food restaurant isn't going to cut it.

so today i went to a zine making workshop at my university's rare books library (which yes, was as awesome as it sounds-- will post pics of my zine soon!) and afterwards when i was leaving i literally just walked up to the front desk and asked if they were hiring or if they would have any positions open in the summer. and the girl behind the desk is like, "perfect timing, actually" and got her manager and i pretty much sat for an interview then and there. he basically told me to just email him my resume and my availability and the job is mine-- he even talked about letting me have small, one or two hour shifts during this semester. i might be getting a job where i'm paid to hang out at the rare books library sitting at a desk and doing my homework which is just the perfect job for me lol. im really happy!

didn't ask about the pay, which will probably be... not good, but probably not horrible either. dining hall/student center workers usually get around $12.50 starting wage i think, so the library pay might be around there? i was making $10 at my last job and min wage here is $7.25, so i would honestly be happy with that. either way, this is just such a huge weight off my shoulders. who knew it was so easy to get a job lol?
