emo renaissance?

WOOO been a long time since i posted but i've been so busy with school! my classes for this sem seem fun but i'm waking up so much earlier than i was last semester *cries*

against literally all odds the new fall out boy song is good?? i've tried so hard but i've never really liked the majority of their post hiatus work; i like individual songs, but i find their work as a whole just shifting too far into pop for me. i think mania as an "experimental" album needed several more years to cook and i think the band themselves have alluded to basically being forced by their label to release it before they were ready. i roll my eyes at both people who are whining about "gatekeeping" fall out boy from "mania haters" and at people who act like mania was the worst album any band has ever released or even that much worse than their other post-hiatus stuff. but i digress, love from the other side caught me on the first listen! i love the heavy guitars and drums mixed with the orchestral strings :3 tentatively hopeful about the rest of the album!

ironically related (thanks pete wentz for soft-launching brendon urie's pregnancy announcement on accident) panic at the disco is finally officially over! let's be honest, they've been over for years. even if you like their post-split music, you can admit that things started going downhill with pray for the wicked and plummeted off a cliff with viva las vengeance. it's honestly sad that he clung onto the name for so long when it's so far from what the other band members wanted it to be, but that's life, i guess.
